Original embossed dark green cloth. Gilt lettering on spine and upper cover (spine faded). Corners slightly bumped & very slight shelf & handling wear to edges. Emerson Hough (1857-1923) was an American author best known for writing western stories and historical novels. North of 36 was made into three films: the first in 1924 was directed by Irvin Willat, & became a popular silent film, "making him one of the first Western authors to enter into the motion picture industry. The Conquering Horde, was directed by Edward Sloman in 1931 and The Texans, directed by James P. Hogan (1938).
