Illustrated by original, hand-mounted photographs. Brown morocco backed, printed boards in worn and somewhat soiled condition. Spine good with very minor wear. Font hinge split and leaves loose. Text has very minor spotting and photographic plates are faded but remain in good condition, some with small and discreet "Science and Art Department. Deposit/Loan" stamps with a crown symbol. 14, [2] p., 20 leaves of plates, plus 2 page publisher's catalogue at the back. 38 x 28 cm. This bok dates from before the widespread use of photomechanical printing processes to illustrate books, that emerged in the 1840s, in the early years of photography & is known as photography incunabula .
