20 volume set of William Shakespeare's works housed in a miniature wooden replica of Shakespeare's desk which is modelled on the original in a Stratford museum. 18.5 x 17.5 x 8 cm. This desk is made of oak taken from Holy Trinity Church, Stratford-Upon-Avon, where Shakespeare was baptised and buried. The original of  Shakespeare's desk may be seen in Shakespeare's House in Stratford-Upon-Avon, England. A label on the rear says that this replica miniature desk is made from oak from Holy Trinity Church, where he was baptized and is buried. There is the original deliberate scrawling on the desk lid, for child-like authenticity. Crack along the back below the hinges, otherwise the desk is in very good condition (I have never seen any for sale in the last 25 years other than this one and another that was sold by a collector in a public auction at Bonhams, 9th November 2022). There is one other desk in the National Library of Scotland in Glasgow,  but no others I can trace. These 'forty bound as twenty' volumes, are extremely uncommon and difficult to find. This was one of only two presentations I know of  - the other being the oak chest - that Bryce had two Shakespeare works especially bound into one - to complete the set in 20, instead of 40, books. Two volumes with defective spines, and one volume missing but has a replacement of the same two plays - As You Like It, and Merchant of Venice - not having the yapp edges nor front cover crest, but published in the same series, and of the same publication date - just that one binding varies slightly. All spines faded. All bindings slightly worn.
