Charming contemporary prize giving inscription in ink in a neat hand from Mrs. Frere, teacher of the Sunday School, to George Millard at Christmas.Some light foxing largely confined to the margins and endpapers. This is a sequel volume to part one "Scripture Scenes" that was published in 1859, a year earlier. 32 x 28 cm. Publishers blue cloth backed green decorative paper covered boards. Spine with blind embossed acanthus leaf decoration at head and tail; gilt lettering. Upper board with elaborate foliate green printed border, an engraved seashell design and lettering. The lower board with a similar border surrounding a rural scene with three female gardeners. Some slight wear to head and tail of spine and to the corners. Otherwise in reasonably good condition with few blemishes. A book of pictures with a quote from Scripture or a simple rhyme on each page. Contents: Home pictures. School pictures. Country pictures. Wayside pictures. Sea pictures. Pictures of animated nature. WorldCat locates a sole European copy in Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin, but a reasonable number in North America.
