Six thousand copies were printed at 18 shillings each. There was a second impression of 2,000 copies. The last of four posthumous collections of Woolf's essays edited by Leonard Woolf. "Truth", Virginia Woolf, envisioned as "something of granite-like solidity", and personality as something of "rainbow-like intangibility", and the aim of biography , she proposed, was to "weld these two into one seamless whole".
