The Bijou Almanac for 1855, published by Rock Brothers & Co. in London in 1854, was not just for checking the date; it was a fashionable accessory for ladies and a popular gift - a prime example of mid-Victorian miniature book publishing, they were collectively often referred to as "Victorian Kindles" due to their portability and curated content. While earlier, more famous versions were published by Albert Schloss (1836–1843), Rock Brothers & Payne continued this tradition of producing exceptionally small, engraved, and decorative almanacs for the handbag or waist pocket.
