"Bad effects of Much Drink", "Nature's Uses of a Breakfast", "Be Hungry Once a Day", & "Resist Tempters"). Having a supplementary title of Digestion on the first page of text and on the upper cover. 44 x 59 mm. Original blue cloth lettered and decorated in gilt, lower cover decorated in blind, all edges gilt. Spine and upper cover with minuscule creases & some extremely slight wear to edges and corners. Bondy p.139: "The stomach is well served by miniature book authors. Joseph Bentley's Gems of Health for Young and Old was published by the author and G. E. Petter in London circa 1860. The book has 64 pages and the text is entirely devoted to food and drink, advocating vegetarianism". Bentley (1805?-1872), was a School Inspector and also published "Health Made Easy for the People" (Philadelphia : J. L. Gihon, 1854). Not in Bromer, nor Spielmann nor Welsh.
