Top edges gilt, others uncut. Marginal foxing particularly on the preliminary leaves. With signed and dated gift dedication from one of the subscribers John Bellows, in a flourishing ink hand on the front free endpaper. 24.5 x 29.5 cm. Original embossed and textured blue cloth. Gilt lettering along the spine and on the upper cover, above a gilt Royal crown design.Bevelled edges. Very slight handling wear to corners and spine. John Bellows (1831-1902), of Eastgate in Gloucester, was a Quaker, publisher, philanthropist, polymath, and vegetarian teetotaller . He gave the book to friend Rose Shipway (of Rodborough in Surrey).
