Histoires diverses : 1 : Une Aventure de Zambeccari : le Pauvre Medor ; 2 : Le Fils d'un criminel, la Jacinthe d'Elisa ; 3 : ce Bon monsieur Harley, Dinden le fortune; ; 4 : le Capitaine Flawberg, Almer le derviche. 54 x 80mm. Romantique rose cartonnage binding featuring a lithograph cameo oval illustration as a centerpiece of the dog Medor and his owner, surrounded by blind embossed scrolling Rococo border decoration (front cover very slightly faded and patinated). The first story is in ballooning pioneer, Francesco Zambeccari's own words on October 7th, 1803 as he set off from Bologna with companions Dr. (of physics) Grassetti and Giovanni Andreoli on a death defying 120 mile flight. After a terrifying ordeal, the three aeronauts were finally rescued & taken to the nearby port of Pola. Grassetti's hands were badly mutilated and Zambeccari's fingers were amputated to save his life. The second story is the heart warming rescue of a pet dog after he was set for drowning due to economic privation. WorldCat locates only 4 sets worldwide. Not in Bondy, Spielmann nor Welsh.
