This endures from the time of the Iranian hostage crisis as one of the significant photojournals of the 20th century. Peress (born 1946) studied politics & philosophy in Paris before joining Magnum (eventually Magnum's President) in 1974. His aim became to draw attention to violence and oppression around the world, "I'm gathering evidence for history, so that we remember". Telex Iran was his first publication of many to follow.
