[136] printed pages. Lithographed frontispiece -of young man -almost certainly Prince Arthur- in traditional Highland costume in Balmoral- and lithographed title page. Followed by Miniature Ball-Room Guide 40 unnumbered pages, each with borders and decorative floral cornerpieces, and 6 pages Printer's adverts at end. Printed by R. Allen, Nottingham. Original primrose endpapers. Contemporary gift inscription in ink on back of frontispiece ("R.H.J. to E.M.C."-no further information). All edges gilt. Includes a two-page Floral Almanac and weather table. The Ball-Room Guide may not have a title page (?) but has a dedication leaf to "the fair sex of Great Britain of whom Queen Victoria in her exalted station and domestic life is a bright example". Charming vignettes of the Star of the Garter, Prince of Wales Feathers, the Imperial crown, a profile of Queen Victoria and the Royal Crest &c. 35 x 62mm. Original ruby red morocco folding flap style binding. Just one other copy of the almanac located by WorldCat, and for the year 1862 -not 1864- (held at the British Library). An exact printing of this Ball-Room Guide has not been traced anywhere. Neither publication mentioned in Bondy, nor Spielmann nor Welsh. Seller Inventory # 5328
