Miniature accordion-fold (leporello) advertising booklet. 4 pages in French printed in columns on a single folded sheet. Cover titles enclosed within a red geometric and decorative typographical border, stating "Le Volume 5 Centimes" and featuring the famous Poulain corporate slogan: "Vendre bon en amusant" ("Selling good things through entertainment"). Back page features a full-page text advertisement ("Avis aux Consommateurs") promoting the premier Chocolat Poulain wrapped in orange paper with Mexican vanilla at 2 francs per half-kilogram. 40 x  69 mm. Fair to Good. Light edge wear, minor toning, and typical fragile separation starting at the primary central fold, common for ephemeral wood-pulp papers of this era. Fully legible text. This moral and fantastical short story tells the tale of the rise of General Tutu,  for reading to children. A scarce example of turn-of-the-century chromolithographie/éphemera de confiserie. While Poulain famously distributed loose insert cards (images Poulain), this fully text-based miniature narrative booklet representing a standalone "volume" for 5 centimes is considerably rarer.
