Provenance:-This copy was acquired from the descendants of Tony Hoolahan Q.C., a prominent libel lawyer who successfully prosecuted Private Eye, (represented by John Mortimer of Rumpole fame) on behalf of Desmond Wilcox (married to Esther Rantzen of "That's Life" fame) in 1982. The book was a Christmas present from the author to her close friends.
MARGARET MORRIS (1929-2008) accompanied her husband, John Cloake, a British diplomat, on postings to New York, Moscow, Tehran and finally Sofia, where he served as British Ambassador to Bulgaria from 1976 to 1980. A product of their time in Tehran was her translation, editing and first publication in English, under the title A Persian at the Court of King George, of the diary kept by Abol Hassan Khan, Persian Ambassador to London in 1809-10.
