: David Bryce & Son, Glasgow. [no date), 1st thus. (Leatherbound) Very good, no dust jacket. 384pp. Limp Red leather binding; minature book: 6x4 cm (about 2% by 1% inches); Top edges gilt; not in Beetz.
COMPLETE SET of all 4 volumes, in the publisher's
ORIGINAL SLIPCASE. Actually the slipcase is just made out of stiff paper restored by Artifact, and because the leather bindings have slightly swelled with age, the seams had split, but it is complete. The names of all 4 of these volumes are printed on the case, and unusually, the 4 volumes are double paginated, with a run of numbers for each volume, and a continuous run that goes thru all 4 volumes, in lotk, the first page of text is numbered 3 at left bottom, and 1091 at right bottom, and the last page is numbered 383 at bottom left, and 1471 at bottom right..
The books are in VG+ condition, fine and clean inside, but there is a FAINT damp stain on the lower left quarter of the leather covers. No evidence of this on the pages Inside, 1 or 2 spot stains on bottom edge of 2 volumes.
As of right now, it appears there is only ONE VOLUME of this set for sale thru the Internet, you could not even piece together a set through separate purchases, and nowhere can the outer "slipcase" be found.
EXCEPTIONAL (as a 'boxed' complete set) Cardboard slipcase restored in 2013 by Artifact
