Sixth edition. 128 unnumbered pages (very slight age-toning). With contemporary ink ownership inscription on front paste-down endpaper, dated 1858. All edges gilt. Front inner hinge split but remaining firm. Lacks front free endpaper. 35 x 50mm. Original Islamic style or wallet style binding in maroon roan, with words Children's Bread in gilt just above the flap (very slightly rubbed). Published for children. Bondy, 127. Welsh, 1779. The Welsh copy is undated. Bondy had only seen a tenth edition in cloth from circa 1850 (?). Ruth Adomeit owned a 20th edition in her collection. The British Museum has an undated copy circa 1839. Not in Spielmann. No other copy of this quite early sixth edition has been traced. Seller Inventory # 5285
