Circa 1900. 377 printed pages, dates printed in red, poetry in black. All edges gilt. Owner's inscription and some entries in contemporary hand ("July 6th: Father died"). Front inner hinge cracked and front free endpaper lacking. 50 x 56 mm. Original navy morocco. Spine with art nouveau floral motif and titling in gilt (slightly faded and a little rubbed with minor wear to head and tail, upper hinge cracking). Complete with hallmarked silver palquette to upper cover. Fully assayed in Birmingham by maker L & S, Levi & Salaman, depicting a family of five, sitting outside a tavern drinking (silver with some slight loss in a few places and to fold-under edges; wrinkled with handling). Provenance: Sara Williams, Liverpool. 1910 (nothing further known). Bromer, 58. Welsh, 6075. This non-religious example of a silver bookbinding is considerably less common than many others.
