![Shakespeare, William. [Selected works of Shakespeare in a replica of Shakespeare's Desk]. Bryce, David & Son. Glasgow. 1904.](http://camdenlockbooks.com/cdn/shop/files/P3032573_{width}x.jpg?v=1741027320)
8 volume set of William Shakespeare's works housed in a miniature wooden replica of Shakespeare's desk which is modelled on the original in a Stratford museum. 115 x 107 x 52 mm. This desk is made of oak taken from Holy Trinity Church, Stratford-Upon-Avon, where Shakespeare was baptised and buried. The original of Shakespeare's desk may be seen in Shakespeare's House in Stratford-Upon-Avon, England. A contemporary label on the bottom says that this replica miniature desk is made from oak from Holy trinity Church, by A.W. Wright. There is the original deliberate scrawling on the desk lid, for child-like authenticity. Apart from one of the two hinges of the top flap being defective, the desk is in excellent condition (I have never seen any miniature oak Shakespeare's desks for David Bryce & Son at all for sale of this size, other than two larger examples - one offered for sale by myself, and another that was sold by a collector in a public auction at Bonhams, 9th November 2022). The desk set of this size is completely unrecorded and undocumented.
These eight select leather bound harlequin-coloured volumes, are themselves a touch uncommon in this exact binding. They are Twelfth Night, Julius Caesar, Macbeth, The Merry Wives of Windsor, The Midsumer Night's Dream, Romeo and Juliet, The Tempest, and the Taming of the Shrew. All have uniform gilt block titling on spines and front covers; they have rounded corners, and all edges gilt. They all are slightly rubbed.
