c. 1890.  unnumbered printed pages complete with six full-page and three vignette bright chromolithographic illustrations of steeplecasing, sculling, cricket, and (three full-page) of fishing. Mildly and evenly toned pages with very light sporadic foxing. Previous owner's ornamental, small bookplate of Anthony David Estill. 13 x 14 cm. Original die-cut, stab bound with chromolithographic covers in the shape of a saddle and stirrup. Spine tied with original green silk ribon. One small crease near top right hand corner; slight edge wear. Housed and protected within crimson buckram hand-made solander box; box with green velvet and buckram interior and brown silk ribbon hand made by the former owner, Estill. Provenance: Estill is a British book collector and craftsman. Obpacher Brothers (Gebr. Obpacher) 1867-1988 Munich, Bavaria This printing and publishing firm was founded by the brothers Johann and Joseph Obpacher. They were commercial lithographers who produced children s books, greeting cards, reward cards, postcards, and art prints. As business grew they opened offices in Berlin, Paris, London, New York, and Chicago but continued printing operations in Munich. They became a public company in 1888 and soon began publicizing themselves as Lithograhisch Artistische Anstalt, formally Gebruder Obpacher. Their New York subsidiary on Duane Street was called the Art Lithographic Publishing Co., and in London The Artistic Lithographic Co. No copies found worldwide in WorldCat, nor Copac.
