Eight volumes, bound in blue buckram, each with a different illustration to inside front and with gilt titles, portrait of Shakespeare, and decoration, on spines. The front covers blind-stamped with comedy & tragedy masks with a stringed instrument and a feathered cavalier style hat and whip to upper: Holt Trinity Church Yard & Spire in round to centre, with village cottages (Shakespeare's House?) to bottom. All edges in red. Contained in an original blue box with Shakespeare in gilt to The box is in a distressed condition with lid separate and one side loose.

Pocket sizes hardbacks (gilt lettering to the spine, small nicks. dents and light shelf wear on the covers and spine) in VGC, no Dj as issued. Illustrated with b/w plates. Edited by J Talford Blair. Nice and clean with light shelf wear. The books are in VGC for its age. 4048pp (total) including List of illustrations, glossary. A collectable 8-volume set.
