It was sent along with this particular copy of the book, addressed to Lady Dobell, on behalf of Mildred Wasson. Wasson wrote 6 popular romantic novels from 1926-40. Lady Elizabeth Dobell (1878-1972) Elizabeth Anne Campbell (née Meyrick Bankes) married Major Charles Dobell in 1908, and travelled widely with him during his distinguished military career. They were avid collectors of jewellery, oriental rugs and stamps. Evelyn Acworth's book, The New Matriarchy, surveys the legal status of women throughout recorded Western history, and she observed that "It is not fortuitous that so many of the great leaders of the Philanthropic Movement of the [Nineteenth] century were women.".
