Place of publication unknown, publisher unknown. Printed in English and Russian. 106 printed pages. Profuse illustrations in colour of the comononaut Alexei Leonov (1934-2019) by his friend Andrei Sokolov. Foreword by Yuri A. Gagarin. Red typeface in preliminary pages and chapter headings. Loosely inserted orginal staple-bound grey 16 page pamphlet, providing French, German and Spanish translations of the text. 25.5 × 25.5 cm. Original grey cloth with metalic rose lettering along spine and spacecraft design on upper cover. Complete with dust jacket with small triangular portion of back cover unattached, small chip at bottom of upper cover, hinges very slightly torn, edges very slightly worn. The book was intended for the Russian youth. Yuri A. Gagarin was the first human in space; his capsule, Vostok 1, completed one orbit of Earth on 12 April 1961. Leonov, in 1965, became the first person to conduct a spacewalk, exiting the capsule during the Voskhod 2 mission for 12 minutes and 9 seconds. Andrei Konstantinovich Sokolov (1931-2007) was a Soviet and Russian science fiction painter and a graphic artist, a designer of stamps, and architect. Bookseller Inventory # 5013
