Endpapers a little foxed. 20 x 26.5 cm. In original cloth strengthened card slip case (with the label for William Wycherley's works, rather age-toned); Box faded, split along some edges and exhibiting some considerable abrasion & wear. Four matching volumes are in original quarter dark tan buckram. Spines with brown labels and dark blue lettering. Boards are covered in light brown paper. Some very slight age-related spots of mild discolouration. Otherwise in very good condition. Nonesuch Press was a private press founded in 1922 in London by Francis Meynell, his second wife Vera Mendel, and their mutual friend David Garnett, co-owner of Birrell & Garnett's bookshop in Soho's Gerrard Street, in the basement of which the press began. Nonesuch Press's first book, a volume of John Donne's Love Poems was issued in May 1923. Among the press's best-known editions were the collected works of William Congreve and William Wycherley.
